Over 3 weeks, our friendly and supportive staff will guide you through an introduction to the basics of painting - art lessons perfect for absolute beginners even the completely terrified!

If you’ve always wanted to try painting but felt intimidated or not known where to begin or if you’ve not done any art since school - our art class will soon we will have you feeling confident, having fun with painting and creating your very own works of art you can be proud of!

This Art Academy East Diploma is a class-based course. It is suitable for those who have already undertaken previous study in art & design (previous qualifications are not compulsory) or those who have practised creatively in their life and are looking to develop their painting & drawing skills. One day per week attendance, includes a bonus module and the opportunity to take part in an in house exhibition at the end. Course fees are payable.

You may have already completed our L3 Diploma or have similar experience and this is the next step in your creative journey with AAE! This course takes you a stage further towards seeing yourself as an emerging artist rather than an art student. Alongside guided sessions that explore technique, this journey is about self-discovery within creative practice and realising a distinctive style and a set of methods that work well for you as an individual. One day per week attendance. Course fees are payable.


Introducing our creative short courses in ceramics. Covering a range of techniques and skills including: hand building, throwing on a wheel, glazing and many more! The courses are delivered by professional artists who provide live demonstration and step-by-step guidance and support. Whether you are just starting out or have been creating for a while, we have workshops suitable for beginners, improvers and experienced creators. Fun and friendly online paint along demonstration sessions aimed at beginners and those with some experience. Learners work with a variety of mediums, subjects and techniques following a step by step program. They are a good way to further develop your skills at home and also to experience our teaching style and get to know what we do. Sessions are pre-recorded or take place live using Zoom. Classes can be booked online.


Have a go at our free painting and drawing challenge available on our YouTube page. Go back to basics using drawing skills and watercolour to think about composition and application of colour. These are free and can be accessed in any order. They are a good idea if you would like to experience the way we teach and the high quality of learning that we provide or alternatively if you feel like getting creative and need a starting point.
