If you are looking to hone your creative skills into being able to produce successful artwork or you are considering further building your portfolio of work then this course is for you.
Level 3 provides an opportunity to explore in some depth, a range of techniques and processes that will start you thinking about honing the skills needed to produce competent work. It is very much guided by the curriculum and learners work together with a common aim. Level 4 takes you a stage further towards seeing yourself as an emerging artist rather than an art student. Whilst there are guided sessions that explore technique, this journey is more about self-discovery. Within your creative practice you can realise a distinctive style and a set of methods that work well for you as an individual. As emerging artists you will be encouraged to take a deep dive into your own ambitions and forge a plan to meet those in the future.
If you have achieved the L3 Diploma in Art and Design at Art Academy East or a L3 art qualification elsewhere, this course should be suitable for you. If you are not already on one of our programs you may need to attend an interview to gauge if the course is right for you.
This is an opportunity to have a face-to-face conversation with a tutor that focusses specifically on your work and progress. It is a chance to investigate in detail how you might achieve more within your work as well as to celebrate what you have done well. It is within these discussions that you may be able to explore in more detail the artist that you will become and to make a realistic plan on how to move forward in terms of time management, finding resources, looking at themes and artists who influence you. You will be having conversations that are tailored to you and your progress. This replaces the more formal written feedback sheets and you will be encouraged to make your own notes during the process.
Some materials are included in the cost of this course - Materials are included for any guided sessions where your tutor is delivering a step-by-step class/project. You will need to source your own materials necessary for all other lessons. We have designed the lessons to use materials and equipment that are readily available or that you are more than likely to already have. We will send learners a suggested kit list, some of which can be purchased from our materials store.
