ABOUT US

Art Academy East offers courses learners looking to expand their skill set in painting, printing, fashion, textiles and design. Work your way from a short course to an accredited qualification geared towards employment. The Academy caters for nervous first timers to experienced artists and returners who are looking to expand their skill set in painting, printing, textiles and design.

We are now offering accredited City & Guilds Diplomas for 16 yrs+ which engage students, break down the barriers of learning and provide a strong foundation in technical ability. Learners may be eligible for funding.

Short and Open Courses allow learners to develop their skills without working towards a qualification, engage with other learners in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and feel part of a creative group. Learners are encouraged explore their own pathways and ideas. Courses are taught with an ‘old school’ approach, promoting the study of the fundamental skills of painting, colour theory, design, drawing and creative textiles.

City & Guilds creative qualifications has provided people around the globe with craft skills that form the basis of a cultural tradition, whilst promoting the highest level of innovation and design, providing an extensive range of subjects from which learners can acquire practical skills and knowledge essential to work within the creative industries. A fusion of applied skills and underpinning knowledge will equip learners with the ability to make informed decisions about design and creative processes in a contemporary context. Successful learners will produce unique and innovative work carried out to the highest levels of craftsmanship, backed with sound subject knowledge and developed research skills. The inclusion of contextualized employability skills will allow learners to investigate industry and commerce whilst preparing them for future vocational opportunities such as starting their own business as a sole-practitioner or full-time employment within the creative industries.
